How Jan Onesork uses Kagi Search

We're launching a new series that puts our members in the spotlight. In these features, we'll explore how professionals across different industries integrate various Kagi products into their workflows, sharing insights from members who've made the switch and never looked back. From the small productivity wins to the bigger changes in how we think and work, these stories highlight the genuine impact of choosing a search engine and complementary tools that put the interests of users first.

First in the series: A growth marketing consultant

Meet Jan Onesork, an SEO specialist with 18 years of experience who runs a consultancy helping B2B SaaS companies with growth marketing and SEO strategy. As someone who spends his days researching keywords, analyzing search trends, and understanding how people find information online, Jan knows a thing or two about what makes a good search engine.

We caught up with Jan to learn more about his Kagi experience:

Q: What made you first try Kagi, and what convinced you to stick with it?

A: I'm always eager to try new tools and I've experimented with several alternative search engines before discovering Kagi. Usually, I'd get frustrated after just a few days because the search quality couldn't match what I was used to and I'd inevitably crawl back to Google.

Kagi was different from day one. The search results were genuinely better - not just in English, but across multiple languages. That consistent quality made it easy to make the switch permanent (it will be one year soon!)

Q: How has switching to Kagi changed your daily workflow or search habits?

A: My search experience is now faster and more pleasant. Instead of skipping ads and irrelevant results, I get straight to what I need.

Most importantly, I feel like I'm using a tool designed for me as a user, rather than one designed to squeeze me for ad revenue.

Q: What's your favorite Kagi feature?

A: I love how Kagi's simplest features make the biggest difference in my daily use:

  • Adding a question mark to any query instantly gives me an AI answer
  • Adding "space + !" takes me directly to the first result - perfect for quickly accessing specific sites
  • Using arrow keys to navigate results keeps my hands on the keyboard and makes me much more productive

These aren't flashy features, but I use them all the time.

Q: You're pretty vocal about Kagi on social media (thank you!) - what drives your enthusiasm to recommend it to others?

A: I want a future where the open web is still active and thriving - where creators can build, own their work, and set their own rules. For that, we need search engines and AI tools built for users, not advertisers.

The only sustainable way to achieve this is through direct payment. When I recommend Kagi, I'm advocating for a healthier internet ecosystem.

Q: If you had to convince a skeptical friend to try Kagi in 30 seconds, what would you say?

A: I would show them how easy it is to block an annoying site so it never appears in search results again.

The Switch That Sticks

Jan's story underlines something we hear from many of our members: once you experience search without the noise, it's hard to go back. His perspective as an SEO professional makes his endorsement particularly meaningful, he understands search from both sides and still chooses to pay for a better experience.
